Awards
The ECANZ Excellence Awards is a biennial celebration of New Zealand's outstanding Master Electricians. The Awards Dinner is the culmination of a judging process of many electrical projects from across New
Zealand ranging from domestic fit-outs, to large commercial and industrial work. The projects are judged on a variety of criteria including quality workmanship; management and commercial skills; application of new projects, processes and
emerging technologies; and compliance with health and safety policies and procedures.

Milburn Electrical designed and installed the entire electrical requirements for the Milton Prison, and as this was a 'green fields' site, they had to start from the ground up. The Prison site covers 15.5 hectares
comprising 27 buildings housing 335 'guests', 2 power supplies, 3 emergency generators, and 5 transformers, with a lit security perimeter fence 1.6 kilometres long - giving an indication of the scope of experience, skill and man hours
required by Milburn Electrical to successfully complete this project.
-

-
2005 Winner General Cables Award
for a major project over $500,000
The Palms Mall, Christchurch
for a major sized project combining innovation and management with excellence.
Judges comments included:
"Aotea Electric Canterbury took on the enormous project of working with three separate building contractors on the very large extension to the existing Palms Mall in Christchurch. Not only did they have to do all the electrical work on
a new eight-cinema complex, food hall, supermarket and a new retail wing - but also refurbish the older parts to the mall.
With Aotea Electric running five gangs, the work was done in four stages: an area of the mall dedicated to a single car park first; then completion of a new Woolworths; major fit-out of existing tenants and demolition for the future
tenants space; and lastly the feature cinema and arena area.
From the start, they were asked as times to work outside the scope - but found this work challenging and rewarding."
