The Aotea Electric Canterbury branch was formed in 1992, and has rapidly become the largest and most preferred electrical contracting and servicing provider in Canterbury.

Mike Daniel
General Manager

As General Manager of the Aotea Electric Canterbury branch, Mike Daniel oversees all aspects of the operational side of the business as well as over-viewing the Westland, Nelson and Wellington businesses. Mike's
background mainly centres on contract management and he maintains an active role in securing our larger projects. Mike has had 30 years experience in the electrical industry, performing Project Management and General Management for the last 18 years.

As Administrative Manager of Aotea Electric Canterbury, Gary Thomson oversees the financial and administrative functions of the Canterbury, Westland, Nelson and Wellington operations. From a Construction Administration background,
Gary has been in this role with the Aotea Group for close to 25 years.

As Projects Manager for Aotea Electric Canterbury branch, Robbie Rea is responsible for all operational functions associated with the company's larger projects. This includes coordination of staff, labour, quality
assurance, client liason, and all aspects of successful project delivery. His role also includes overviewing larger projects for the Nelson, Wellington and Westland branches. Robbie has over 30 years experience in the electrical industry, both here and overseas, with
the last 10 years in Project Management. Robbie is also on the Executive Committee of the Canterbury Westland branch of ECANZ. (Electrical Contractors Association of NZ).

industry with most of that time at Aotea Electric Canterbury.

As Servicing Manager for the Aotea Electric Canterbury branch, Robbie Venrooy looks after many of the capabilites involved with the electrical field. Having many years experience at Aotea Electric working his way up from a
Servicing Electrician, to Supervisor then Service Manager, he is very familiar with the needs of his clients as well as the requirements of the various projects and jobs. He is also better abled to match the skills of his team of electricians with the varied
challenges each job presents.

As Area Manager of the Communications division for the Aotea Electric Canterbury branch, Brian Auld is responsible for all operational functions associated with data cabling, security, access control,
CCTV, MATV and nurse call disciplines. With 23 years experience in the telecommunications industry Brian holds the following recognised qualifications: NZ Certification in Engineering (Telecommunications), National Certificate in Telecommunications Operational
Management, Advanced Trade Certificate, CCNA and a Limited Electrical Registration.

Recent Projects
AMI Stadium, Christchurch
Completed for the 2011 Rugby World Cup, the new AMI Stadium East Stand has increased seating capacity to 41,000. Aotea Security are proud to be associated with this iconic Canterbury landmark,
and have provided security, access control and CCTV services for this project. An extensive reticulated fibre optic network will support data, security, sound system and public address functionality.

Airways Control Tower, Christchurch
Aotea Electric Canterbury were awarded the electrical, cbus and communications contract for Airways new control tower at TheChristchurch International
Airport.Shaped in a similar style to Christchurch s iconic Chalice sculpture in Cathedral Square , the building represented some challenging construction barriers. The completed building is now New Zealand s
highest control tower packed with the latest technology and manages all of the airports visual air traffic movements.

IRD Building, Christchurch
As part of an overall modernisation strategy, IRD reviewed its property portfolio and future operational requirements. Key drivers for the South Island were relocation of all Christchurch staff into one building, plus future
flexibility of internal space to readily adapt to business change. Accordingly, the decision was made to proceed with a 14,000 sqm office development to accommodate IRD staff. Aotea completed the electrical shell and fit-out contract, installed a Cat6
structured cabling system complete with fibre tubing for future fibre optic cabling and a C-Bus lighting control system.

Student Accommodation, University of Canterbury
Situated at Canterbury University, the Campus Living Villages new development for student accommodation comprised of nine purpose built multi-level buildings. In addition to the electrical contract, Aotea completed the electrical, data cabling and MATV design
and build services.
