Aotea Electric's charity of choice for Christmas 2011 was The Women's Refuge. Aotea Canterbury donated a generous sum to the refuge in support of their stand against domestic violence.

Zealand's greatest All Blacks including; Bob Deans, scorer of the infamous "try that wasn't" against Wales in 1905, Canterbury's famous halfback/first five pairing, Justin Marshall and Andrew Mehrtens, Aaron Mauger and
current international star, Dan Carter.

Opawa Tennis Club
Christchurch's Opawa Tennis Club had its centenary celebrations last year, and Aotea Electric was proud to contribute funding.
Opening with three courts in 1907, the club now boasts 180 members enjoying the club's well-maintained six courts.
Festivities included club play, an exhibition match, speeches by the club president, Canterbury Tennis CEO David Blackwell and Councillor Barry Corbett and an
afternoon tea where the centennial cake was cut.
Aotea Electric also recently donated all electrical work in the club's major renovations to their clubroom and view platform.
