Choosing the right stair lift
for yourself or a loved one can be a daunting task. We
understand how important it is to get the stair lift that is right
for you. Therefore at Aotea Electric we provide a free design
and advisory service.
Stair lifts for the home
are available in three designs - straight stair lifts, curved stair
lifts and outdoor stair lifts. The straight stair lift is designed
specifically for straight staircases, and provides an extremely smooth ride. A common
misconception is that a stair lift must be fitted to a wall. In fact
in most instances, the stair lift is fitted to the stair treads by
way of metal cleats, which are screwed through the floor
covering.
For homes with a curved staircase, Stannah
have developed the curved stair lift. These have been designed for
winding, curved staircases, and their innovative slim carriage and rail make them
particularly suitable for narrower stairways. The rail can also be fitted
on either side of the staircase.
Stannah have also developed
a purpose built outdoor stair left specifically designed for
outdoor use on a straight slope. They are extremely durable and
robust, and will operate in all weather conditions. Stair lifts
are run on DC power which reduces the potential hazard since they do
not have any trailing wires. The batteries are recharged after the
lift has been used. An added advantage of being battery operated is
that the stair lift remains operational after a power cut.
