Aotea Electric Westland has been operating for over 8 years on the West Coast of the South Island. Starting off small, we have rapidly grown into the market leader for all electrical projects big and small on the Coast. With an operating staff of 34 and based out of Greymouth, we cover the coast from Karamea to Haast. Due to our geographic isolation our skill base is very broad and we have developed a real "can-do" attitude to all work that comes in the door.

Refrigeration Specialists

Aotea Electric Westland now has a strong refrigeration team ready to offer professional service to any client requiring the installation, service and preventative maintenance of any industrial and commercial refrigeration and air-conditioning equipment.

We boast a team of six fully qualified refrigeration engineers and three apprentices who have a wide range of industry experience. We service industries such as dairy, fishing, mining, transport, marine, supermarkets, motels and hotels.

Meet the Team

Kerry Millar Managing Director kerry@aoteaelectricwestland.co.nz

As General Manager of Aotea Electric Westland, Kerry Millar oversees all aspects of the daily operation of the branch including the Westport Division. Kerry is happy to discuss any electrical requirements from pricing and designing, budget requests, PLC programming and electrical control design for mining and dairy installations. Kerry has had over 17 years experience in the electrical industry from wholesaling to working on tools to office management including tutoring for the local Polytech.

Brendon Rae Servicing Manager brendon@aoteaelectricwestland.co.nz

With 20 years experience in the electrical wholesaling sector, Brendon Rae has just about seen it all. Starting as a Storeman, progressing to Sales Engineer, Branch Manager then onto Business Development Manager for one of New Zealand's largest distribution networks has given him the opportunity to hone the skills required for the position he now holds within Aotea Electric Westland. Dealing with hundreds of electricians in all aspects of the trade has armed him with the knowledge that puts him in good stead to lead our dedicated Electrical and Refrigeration Team. A born and bred Coaster means he is highly aware of the challenges we face at times up and down our region. His in depth knowledge of the New Zealand supply market gives him the advantage over the rest. Whether it's a power point that needs replaced, a lighting design done for a warehouse or a payback calculation done on proposed capital expenditure, Brendon will make it happen.

Recent Projects

Pike River Coal
This current project involved flying in all the gear and staff on helicopter to a building site high in the Paparoa Ranges. With a total project time of five days with five guys, Aotea Electric Westland's tasks included all electrical cabling and equipment to power up 2 units, fan units, install cable trays, switchboard, a/c, power and lights.

Greymouth Courthouse
This project involved the construction of the new Greymouth Courthouse, with all electrical and data work carried by Aotea Electric Westland. The scope of this project was approximately 3000 hours.
